We Tested the No-Drill Truck Rack: 800lb Hauling Power

We recently put the Non-Drilling Truck Rack through its paces and were genuinely impressed with its performance. Installation was refreshingly straightforward-true to its name, no drilling was required, which preserved our truck’s integrity. The heavy-duty steel construction feels robust and secure, while the extendable design (accommodating truck beds from 52″ to 71″ wide) provided excellent versatility across different vehicles in our fleet.

The 800-pound capacity isn’t just marketing hype; we loaded it with multiple kayaks, lumber, and even a small ladder combination that approached the weight limit, and it remained rock-solid during transport. The rack’s stability at highway speeds was particularly noteworthy, with minimal noise or vibration.

For contractors and weekend adventurers alike, this rack strikes an excellent balance between strength, adaptability, and ease of installation. The no-tool approach saved us time without compromising on hauling capability.

Our Take on the Front Runner Slimline II Defender Rack Kit

After putting the Front Runner Slimline II Contour 90 roof rack through its paces on our Defender, we’re genuinely impressed with its performance. The low-profile design perfectly complements the Defender’s silhouette while providing ample storage space for all our adventure gear.

We particularly appreciate the modular mounting system, which allows us to secure everything from bikes to kayaks without drilling additional holes. The aluminum construction strikes an excellent balance between durability and weight – robust enough to handle off-road conditions while not significantly impacting fuel economy.

Installation was straightforward, utilizing the factory mounting points. The powder-coated black finish has held up well against branches and harsh weather conditions during our testing.

While the price point sits on the higher end, the versatility and build quality we’ve experienced make this a worthwhile investment for serious overlanders.
