Our Hands-On Review: Malone VersaRail Bare Roof System

We recently had the opportunity to test the Malone VersaRail™ Bare Roof Cross Rail System (50″) on several vehicles in our fleet. Right out of the box, we were impressed by the sturdy construction and quality materials. The installation process proved remarkably straightforward, taking us less than 30 minutes without requiring any special tools or roof rack experience.

What truly sets this system apart is its versatility. We successfully mounted it on three different vehicles with bare roofs, and the adjustable clamps provided a secure fit in each case. The 50-inch crossbars offered ample space for our kayaks, bikes, and cargo box.

The aerodynamic design noticeably reduced wind noise compared to other systems we’ve tested, and we experienced minimal impact on fuel efficiency during our 200-mile test drive. For vehicles without built-in roof rails, the VersaRail system delivers exceptional value.
