We Test Drive GMC Terrain’s Top-Rated Roof Rack System

After two weeks of testing, we’re impressed with these aluminum cross bars designed for the upcoming 2025-2026 GMC Terrain models. The lockable system installs securely, with no wobbling even at highway speeds. We appreciated the sleek black finish that complements the Terrain’s roofline rather than disrupting it.

The bars easily accommodated our testing gear-from bulky camping equipment to multiple snowboards. What surprised us most was how little wind noise they generated; the aerodynamic design clearly pays off here. The included locks provide peace of mind when parking in public areas.

Installation took under 30 minutes with basic tools, though we’d recommend having a second person help position the bars. The weight capacity handled everything we threw at it, though we’d suggest checking the manufacturer’s specific limits for your needs.

Bronco Boost: Our Test Drive with 330lb Load Roof Rack

Designed specifically for the 2021-2025 models, this rack installs directly onto the factory roof rails with surprising ease. What impressed us most was its stability under pressure – we loaded it with our maximum test weight of 330 pounds of camping gear and adventure equipment, then took it on a 200-mile journey through varied terrain.

The crossbars maintained their position without noticeable noise or vibration, even at highway speeds. Installation took us about 45 minutes with basic tools, and the aluminum construction strikes a nice balance between durability and weight. We particularly appreciated the T-slot design that allowed us to easily attach our kayak mounts and cargo basket without additional adapters.
